CIGNA Certified Hospital for Bariatric Surgery
In accordance with strict guidelines by the National Institutes of Health, the American Society for Bariatric Surgeons, and the American College of Surgeons, Del Sol Medical Center has been designated a CIGNA Certified Hospital for Bariatric Surgery by CIGNA HealthCare. Factors that were evaluated include surgeon training and experience, volume of procedures,associated outcomes (including complication and mortality rates), implementation of a multidisciplinary patient approach, and comprehensive pre- and post-operative care. Determinations were made based on a review of the quality and outcomes of the care delivered as reflected in the information provided by Del Sol Medical Center in their application for certification.
Del Sol Medical Center has also earned has earned the distinction of "Center of Excellence" by the American College of Surgeons, American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) "Center of Excellence" by the Surgical Review Corporation, the "Blue Distinction" for excellence in bariatric surgery by the BlueCross & BlueShield of Texas and the "Aetna Institutes of Quality for Bariatric Surgery" by Aetna Insurance for excellence in bariatric surgery.
