Del Sol's ER is Now a Level III Trauma Center

As the population in El Paso expands, the needs of the community have resulted in Del Sol evaluating the need for a higher level of trauma designation. Del Sol Medical Center is now a Level III trauma facility designated by the Texas Department of State Health Services as well as an engaged partner in the activities of the Far West Texas and Southern New Mexico Regional Advisory Council on Trauma (BorderRAC).

“This is an important step in providing optimal trauma care for the El Paso Community,” said Jacob Cintron, Chief Executive Officer. “Going from a Level IV to a Level III trauma designation verifies Del Sol has the expertise and resources to provide quality care to trauma patients.” Del Sol’s trauma-trained surgeons and specialists will be available 24-hours a day to respond to trauma emergencies, and nurse clinicians will attend each trauma patient throughout the day for care advancement.

As a Level III Trauma Center, Del Sol will manage the care of many injured patients; providing assessment, resuscitation, stabilization and continuous surgical coverage including Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Maxillofacial, Cardiovascular and Thoracic surgery.

“It takes a team of dedicated healthcare professional to achieve a designation such as this,” said Cindy Stout, Chief Nurse Officer. “The level of skill among our highly-trained emergency room staff is very advanced.” “This is a testament to the quality of patient care that Del Sol is committed to providing El Paso, as well as a testament of our dedicated trauma center and medical staff for their commitment to our program,” she said.
