Del Sol Bariatric Center Earns Aetna Institutes of Quality Designation

Del Sol's Bariatric Center has been designated an Institute for Quality® for Bariatric Surgery from Aetna Institutes for Quality®. Del Sol was selected to receive this revered designation based upon evaluation of clinical performance and overall value of the facility. The designation will help Aetna plan members make informed choices about where to seek bariatric surgery while working to help Aetna plan sponsors manage benefits costs when bariatric surgery is covered under the benefits plans they offer.
Aetna Institutes of Quality® criteria include having significant experience in bariatric surgery, including a minimum of 125 procedures in the most recent calendar year; evidence-based and recognized standards for clinical outcomes, processes of care and patient safety; providing ongoing follow-up programs and support for their bariatric surgery patients; adhering to Aetna's standards for member access to the facility and Aetna participating health care professionals; demonstrating efficiency in providing care based on overall cost of care; and readmission rates and comprehensiveness of program.
Del Sol’s dedicated bariatric surgeons, bariatric specialists, registered nurses and dieticians offer a comprehensive, personalized weight loss program which includes dietary counseling, a medically-based wellness program, surgery, and support groups.
Del Sol Medical Center has also been designated a “Center of Excellence” by the American College of Surgeons and earned the “Blue Distinction” for excellence in bariatric surgery by the BlueCross & BlueShield Association.
